this problem.

Years in IT staffing. Watched the same broken patterns repeat on every major platform.

The job board problem isn't new. Monster launched in 1994. LinkedIn Jobs came later. Indeed scaled to dominate. The UI changed. The underlying model didn't.

Job boards make money by selling postings. More applicants means more activity, more data, more engagement metrics to show. The employer's pile is the product. Neither the employer nor the candidate is really the customer.

In staffing, you see this up close. A client posts a role and gets 400 applications. The best candidate accepts another offer during week two of screening. Engineers apply to 80 roles and hear back from 6. Not because employers are heartless — because there's no infrastructure to respond at that volume.

AI made this worse. The volume problem went from bad to catastrophic. A single posting can now generate thousands of AI-generated applications. The signal is gone. And yet everyone's solution is to add another AI tool — to the same broken stack.

ORecruiter is the answer to a simpler question: what if the platform was designed so both sides got a fair process? Application caps stop the pile from forming. AI screening is included — not an add-on. Every applicant gets a response. Those aren't features. They're structural decisions.

"ORecruiter is a job board. Not a hiring platform. Not an AI that decides who gets hired. A job board — rebuilt so both sides of the table get a fair process."

What we believe

  • Silence is not a feature.
  • Unlimited applications is a bug, not a benefit.
  • Screening should come with the platform, not as an add-on.
  • The employer's pile should never have been the product.
